What to Eat, What to Do…
By Robin Dawson

After a hard day on the hot courts you’ll likely be looking for a good place to cool down and refuel your system.  Dick Hadlock, volunteer coordinator for this tournament, has let me in on a few local secrets.  Sounds to me like these are some places you might want to check out!

The French Market Grille in Surrey Center has been voted “Best Restaurant in Augusta” for 12 years running.  It’s where locals take their out of town guests.  The varied menu with Cajun specialties in a fun atmosphere makes it a favorite.

After getting your fill at French Market Grille, you might want to pop over to nearby Surrey Tavern, which features a great R&B group “Playback,” featuring Miss TuTu Divine.  I’m told you’re in for a real show here folks!

Downtown on Broad, near 5th, try Luigi’s for great Greek and Italian fare in a setting reminiscent of 1950’s Chicago.  The unique pizza selections and fabulous Greek Chicken bring locals back again and again.

A short drive up Central Avenue will land you at Crums on Central, one of Augusta’s newest local eateries.  A fairly inexpensive menu, charming ambience and a great wine list makes this an up and comer to try!
