So
you and your partner, and your opponents, are playing away. Then one of you
thinks, “Hey – what are we doing on this end of the court?”
It’s happened to all of us. We get so involved in our match that somehow we
forget to pay attention to the match. Huh? Let’s just blame it on the
heat. But when we forget to change ends of the court after odd numbered
games we need to fix it right away, but how?
Under the Rules of Tennis, when an error is discovered, all points played in
good faith shall stand. Errors so discovered shall be corrected as
follows:
During a regular game or tie-break, if the players are at the wrong ends of
the court, the error should be corrected as soon as it is discovered. In
addition, the server shall serve from the correct end of the court according
to the score. (Example: 15-15 from the deuce court, 30-15 from the ad
court, etc.)
Simply put – all points played up until you realize you’re on the wrong end
stay. Then get yourselves over to the correct end and carry on!
